Print Your Own House: 3D Printing & Architecture

This week we came across this fascinating video. With 3d printing technologies getting better and cheaper, it comes as no surprise that soon you will be able to PRINT YOUR OWN HOUSE! What a glorious time to be alive. Check it out.

Andrey Rudenko, a Minnesota-native, explains his project: “A new era of architecture is inevitable. I have previously been sure I could print homes, but having finished the castle, I now have proof that the technology is ready.” It has taken 2 years of research & development, but Rudenko was finally able to 3d print this concrete capable of habitation castle. “With this new technology it is possible to print limitless amounts of classical décor as well as brand new elements and shapes, whereas previous technology made innovative constructions difficult and expensive,” says Rudenko.

After completing the castle project, Andrey and his team printed The Philippines’ Lewis Grand Hotel, which is now the world’s first-ever operational commercial structure created using 3D-concrete printing technology. The 3D-Printed hotel suite measures 10.5 meters by 12.5 meters with a height of 4 meters, and includes two bedrooms, a living room, and a Jacuzzi room with a giant 3D-Printed Jacuzzi. Printing was completed on September 20th, 2015.

Are you interested in 3d printing your own house? You can pre-order it here. It will set you back a few hundred thousands of dollars, though. We will not be surprised if in 5 years you’ll be able to buy a 3d concrete printer for a tenth of the price.

Architecture, construction and real estate in general are getting disrupted by not only 3d printing, but artificial intelligence and augmented reality. The way we experience architecture is getting more affordable and realistic. There is a wave of democratization in the world of architecture and we, at Arcbazar, couldn’t be happier with that.
